Happiness is a choice!

If you hate your job you shouldn’t be an entrepreneur

What??? But everyone wants the life of working on their own terms.

Being their own boss,

living the life of luxury,

sleeping until 10am,

wearing your pajamas all day,

working from the beach

and traveling?

Have you heard the phrase, “The grass is always greener on the other side” How about one my dad always said to new home owners, “The pride of ownership.”

Here are some lessons I have learned from being an entrepreneur pretty much all my life. I am 52 years old and so I have had a few experiences.

  1. – Work your day job. If you are working at McDonalds, think of it as if it is your store. What would you do different? How would you run it if you owned it? Maybe it has a program to help you get you more education for what you are dreaming about?
  2. Work your job and then work every second you can at what you are really wanting to do. When you are making more money at the entrepreneurial dream job, then quit the job you really don’t like.
  3. When you are doing your entrepreneurial job there will be ups and downs. There will be times that you will want to go back to McDonalds. Realize that.
  4. Sometimes your entrepreneurial job really sucks. People yell at you, even when you work your tail off for them.
  5. People think you are working your entrepreneurial job for fun and that you shouldn’t earn money. It is OK to earn money, we all need to pay for our own personal stuff. We all need to earn money so we can, pay our bills, take care of ourselves and our loved ones, and then  share with others.  Yes, in that order, don’t leave your loved ones or yourself desolate,  or skip a car or house payment,  so you can help someone else!
  6. Sometimes people want you to do lots of nice stuff for them because you work for yourself. They figure that you have time because you don’t have a  J.O.B. The fact is you need to work and get payed or you can’t pay your bills.
  7. Yes residual income is amazing.
  8. Yes, I wore my comfy close, didn’t put makeup on yesterday and it was wonderful.
  9. Yes, I  had a really amazing sale and the nice guy was so excited for his future and then 1/2 hour later he called and screamed, cussed, and slandered my integrity, all  because he read something on the internet. I kindly canceled everything, like he never existed. Yes, it was draining and time consuming and I received nothing but a headache.
  10. I have had people up one minute and ready to make a difference in others lives as well as their own,  and I work for them above and beyond along beside them. Then hear that they are talking crap on me because I won’t take care of their cat.
  11. Some of the most satisfying experiences… I have been able to help people change their lives, and watch them grow, learn and get to the point where they can help people too.
  12. So be happy with your job, learn what you can, dream big and know that being an entrepreneurial is all that it is cracked up to be and oh…baby…so much more.
