Happiness is a choice!

I want to be “the boss of me!”

I was attracted to working from home, on my own time, and giving myself a raise, right from the young age of 7. I believed that hard work and opportunity was all I needed. I just couldn’t see myself being bossed around! I wanted to be “the boss of me.” Now I realize we are all the boss of ourselves. If we don’t like how things are, we can change them.

I proved to be an entrepreneur from an early age; by selling pony rides; teaching gymnastics to my neighbors in my basement, lawn, trampoline;  giving horse riding lessons and training horses before I could even drive! A “JOB” seemed so confining.

My mom was a professional seamstress and many times I would come home from school and ask if I could have some material and make myself a shirt. With her help we created all time. So with this skill in place, when I went to apply for a  job as a seamstress, I was asked if I could show her something I had sewn, I said, “Yes, this shirt I have on” She said, “You are hired.” This job enhanced the skill of sewing to a new degree. ANTIQUESINGERSEWINGMACHINE004

I enjoyed having a job, paycheck and learning, but I wanted more. So at 18 years old I signed up  with Amway. I didn’t have any success with Amway but I continued to look for something that would provide an opportunity would reward hard work, for the next 28 years.

I did everything from selling balls that you put in your washing machine, super drink, Amway again, Avon (and was in President’s club and got the Spirit of Avon), Quick Star ( which was Amway again!) I just didn’t find anything that really provided a means to earn substantial residual income.

The best fit was teaching music lessons from my home. However, if I was sick, I didn’t get payed, and I was always looking for more students. I was confined to my home and me and my family  had to work around my teaching schedule.

When I turned 44 my life was full of changes. Starting with a new marriage, more family, new home, new community and a much needed change of career. Teaching wasn’t going to work with 9 children getting off the bus. It took me 26 years to find the perfect “be my own boss job”

2015-11-05 09.50.33I work,

I set my hours,

I push myself,

I still believe in hard work and opportunity, and finally this is my chance.

So for the last 6 years my chosen career is setting up and managing marketing teams across the nation, for the largest online wellness shopping club in North America. The best part is I am not alone, my husband works with me as an equal partner. The company has tried and true training that is free or very reasonable.  I have put very little money into my business. With hard work and the right company and business plan, I have found success.

My husband and I are in this together. Life happens and with 14 children in a blended family,  yes… life really happens. We have had 5 marriages, an 18 year old son pass away, 13 grandchildren added, and 3 moves.  As of this time I am experiencing lymphoma and chemotherapy and I work when I can. But through it all we have received a check every month. It has replaced my income as a music teacher with truly reliable, residual income.

I have gone to football games, wrestling matches, musicals, rodeos and many other family activities; that before I couldn’t go to because I was working. I can take time to heal, heal my heart, heal my body. My work is flexible,  steady and truly rewarding!
