14 children, are you intimidated by this?” Na,, not at all,” I said, trying to breath belief into my sole.
My future husband asked me that question as we sat in the living room all snuggled up, watching all of our children trying to impress each other with singing, playing instruments, cracking jokes and some just being cute. Yep 10 boys 4 girls, 3 in-laws, and a grandchild to go along with it!
Today we are still together and still “snuggling” and watching our children EAT!!
Here is a story for you, and it gets better with time.
Cereal was on sale at the store for $1 a box. I bought 20, that will be a nice treat for the 8 children getting off the bus each day, ravenously starving. (7 big, growing boys and 1 petite girl) I should buy some milk, yep, 8 gallons should do.
I get home, oh Jim bought milk, ok, 13 gallons of milk will last a while. So tonight we will have a cereal party! Everyone got their fill of cereal!
I didn’t even really notice any cereal eating for the next couple of days. Then, 4 days later, I remembered, my favorite cereal would be a nice little snack about right now. No milk in this fridge. Ok to the OTHER fridge, no milk?
What? 4 days 13 gallons of MIlk???
What???
Where is my cereal???
No cereal left? Yes it is true, only a small bit of the unfavorite, no sweetened cereal left.
So yesterday I just made this amazing granola cereal that really fills them up with one bowl, and if we run out of milk, they can eat it as a cookie?
(FYI, I now have my own small fridge in my room, and that room also has a lock with a key, the key stays with me, so I can protect my favorite cereal and 1% milk)
Here is the recipe for this amazing cereal I call, Monster batch of Granola
12 eggs
1- 2lb bag brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 Tbsp corn syrup
1 Lb. butter or coconut oil
3 Lbs peanut butter
1 Lb coconut
dried fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, of your choice
18 cups oatmeal, (you can mix in oat bran, and 9 grain cereal that looks like oatmeal)
spray cookie sheet with non stick spray
350 degrees for 20 min.
Makes 6 pans, crumble and store in container in the freezer.
There is NO WAY that they can eat this in 4 days!!
