Compare and Contrast

I just finished several  life changing experiences. My mom died, I went through a divorce after 24 years of marriage, then I remarried a family friend with 9 children, (I had given birth to 5 children of my own), my new husband and I started a business together, then my 18 year old son died from influenza, and  then I had stage 4 cancer and survived.

Well, I am alive and somehow I am still writing on my blog “I am a happy girl.” I am 52 years old and I made it, so what else can this girl do? We now have 2 children at home and this gal has an opportunity to change the world. I need money to change the world. My goal for 2017 is to create $100,000 for myself and my husband. He deserves someone to take some of the pressure off of him.

I have several ideas, I won’t tell you about all of them, but I am doing lots of good stuff.  First, why not see if this 52 year old grandma is still hirable? So in September of 2016 I applied to be a tutor for Boxfish education. It was more of an experiment than anything. As the process was started and continued, I realized that it was real. This is serious stuff.

I have taught children all my life, I homeschooled my own children and I have been a music, gymnastic, horsemanship  and 4-H teacher. I felt confident and nervous at the same time.

I am hoping to give you some information that I had to find on my own. To make it a little easier for you.

After you send in your application, you will set up a time to do a face time interview. This will be like a pretend teaching session. Watch videos  and prepare yourself to talk slow and clear and smile. They are really kind and are trying to help, remember they are people just like you. They may be just starting and nervous also. I noticed when I gave a big smile and laughed, the person interviewing relaxed.

When you schedule this interview, check and recheck the time. They are 14 hours ahead of me. One time I scheduled a training on face time and I wrote it down for the wrong day. They were kind and rescheduled. But that put me behind a month. To find out times in China, just type in google, What time is it in Beijing China?

I had my training at 2:00 in the morning. That is when they interview, after their school hours. They pay you $40 if you pass the training. I watched every Boxfish youtube I could, so that I would feel comfortable.  This video talks about how you will get paid: https://youtu.be/rCu3VNptVww

I was not perfect in my interview. I had to get on skype and show the tech team what my phone was doing. Hint: Make sure you have the latest version of the app. That was my problem. They are always updating it and you may not know when they do.

I accidentally hung up on them during my interview. When I got back on he said,”Now don’t just start pushing random buttons, Carol” I was glad that he thought it was funny, I am sure I am not the first one to do this!

You can ask questions on the Facebook page through messenger. This is a big undertaking, so be patient, be kind, and be assertive.

Now this was an experiment to see if I had it in me and to compare and contrast with other things that I have done. This is not my main job. I was curious to see if it was real, if I was smart enough and to see what others thought my time was worth. I found that this was a very long process. I honestly haven’t had any students sign up for my classes yet. It is one day after the Chinese New Year 2017. I have been payed $40 via PayPal for the training session that I completed. It took me 4 months to earn that $40 and about 40 hours. The other thing that is hanging over my head is that if I miss two scheduled class, they will fire me. They are adding different options for the kids also. Like they send you a video and ask a question, you send one back and you get $1 for each question you answer.  But, I’ve not had any of these opportunities present themselves. They also say you can get payed for recruiting, but haven’t provided me with any details on that, but when they ask who is helping you will you give them my name and email address please. This is a job, a traditional job, trading time for money. It is something that you can do early in the morning, perhaps around kids or another full time or part time job, but it is a job. I will continue the experiment for re-enforce the conclusions that are starting to form in my mind.

Now for the comparison

In February 2009, we had been married not quite a year and we had 9 children (of our 14) at home. A friend of my husband presented a business concept to us. My husband immediately saw the value in the concepts being presented and I totally saw the potential to make money. The concept offered true, reliable, residual income. So the 1st of March we enrolled with our partner company. We had on the “job” training and support and in our first month earned $237. Not a huge check, but I was amazed that we got a check at all. My husband said, “that’s what they told us would happen.” In my past experiences I had never really earned any money.

We have been in this business and partnered with this company since 2009 and have received a check every month since then. Some really impressive checks when we worked hard, and some less impressive when we had to take time off for the death of my son, and cancer. This business has proven itself every month, we have real residual income, with an average of 5 hours working per week during that time, we have been able to supplement our income in a substantial way.

We were able to hit the ground running and have the support and training we needed to be successful, as successful as we had time to be. We set our own hours, we decided how big our check would be and no one could fire us for missing an appointment. It is not a job, we are the CEO of our own business. We don’t trade time for money because of the residual nature of the income that comes from our efforts.

This is a for sure deal for us. 

We partnered with a the largest online Wellness/Green Product Shopping Club in North America, over $1 Billion in sales, each year, for the last 4 years. We set up shopping accounts for new customers and earn commissions on what they buy from our partner and 96% of them buy every month. We also manage and mentor marketing teams across the US and help them do the same thing.

This is not multi-level marketing, we are not distributors, we don’t carry any inventory, we don’t take orders or make deliveries, we don’t bill or collect money from people, we don’t pressure people to make purchases, and we set our own hours and decide how much our check will be each month.

We will pass this on down to our children.

Our first check was over $200 and we had jobs and 9 children at home. We were blending families and it was a very crazy time for us.

It is very forgiving and we have worked part time, taken some time off and have worked full time jobs in addition, throughout the last nearly 8 years. If this makes you curious of if you are intrigued, we would enjoy showing you  a overview of the company.

Conclusion 

This has been an interesting experiment. I challenged myself to learn new things. To overcome technical challenges and to have something re-enforce.  I like having more than one stream of income. I like to try new things, but I like streams of income to pay residually. I would be crazy, just crazy to quit working with a company that has paid me for the last 7 years, every month, when some of the months I didn’t work 5 hours a week, or even 5 hours a month. But I still received a check every single month. Now that is residual income.
