It is such a different situation for me to be just in charge of me! I am having a good time. It was so scary being in a big city, and not having a car. But I have made so many friends and I believe I am the healthiest cancer patient around!
I brought cookie dough and we had a cookie night. It was a great success. This is Jane my cookie partner. She dug right in and helped me put cookies on the cookie sheets and watch the 6 ovens we were cooking them in. We had my mom’s famous, vanilla wafers, (everyone was so impressed mom) whole wheat pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, scotcharoos, and chocolate chip cookies.
Then my sweet friend Betty brought over a box of baking goods and said,”Can you make something out of this stuff, gluten free? I looked up a recipe on my phone, and “viola!” chocolate chip cookies for the gluten free people.
I am sure I am the healthiest cancer patient here. It feels good to mother the patients and care givers. I will admit I only ate one cookie, because I was pretty nauseous, but I am getting a lot of sleep and loving this beautiful place and the people.
When Betty came home the next night she said,”Honey I’m home!” Next week I am planning on home made rolls and soup for my new friends! They need mothering by Carol, that is really what I do best.
